Korchmid misses his third at 555 and finishes with 540. Sawano passes his third at 555!

On Pit A, Lukyanenko and Bukhalov miss their first at 5.65.

On Pit B, Lobinger clears on his third and narrowly avoids a NH. Pit B now moves up to 5.65. Pauli and Otto will pass this height.

20:23 : Both pole vault bars are at 5.65m now. Sawano has opted to pass and take his final attempt at this height.

Mazuryk clears 5.65, the first athlete over.

20:25 : It's cooler in the stadium tonight than on previous nights, though still warm. There's an occasional breeze.

I believe the temperature was in the mid 80s on previous nights with high humidity.

Andreev must have withdrawn from the competition. He took one attempt at 5.40 and then has not taken anymore.

BBC: 1157: Britain's Steve Lewis doesn't last long in the pole vault. The British number one fails all three attempts at his opening height of 5.40m, well below his personal best of 5.61m.

Sawano misses at 5.65! He is out with a NH! I am sure the crowd is quite disappointed.

Liu misses his first and Chiaraviglio misses his second.

Balner misses his first. Jeng misses his second.

Poljanec did not take his second attempt at 5.65 and there is not a pass noted. Thus far that appears to have meant the competitor has withdrawn. I hope everything is OK!

Hartwig misses his first at 5.65, the first miss of the day at 5.65

Video of Sawano shows he bailed. He is holding his side and appears to be in a little pain, but later video shows him walking around OK.
