Two vaulters elected to IAAF Athletes' Commission

Osaka, Japan – 1161 athletes cast their votes this week in the election to decide the composition of 12 seats in the IAAF Athletes’ Commission, a very satisfying 61% of the athletes present in Osaka for the 11th IAAF World Championships in Athletics, Osaka 2007.

Twelve athletes were to be elected: the six candidates with the most votes for a 4-year term until 2011 and the next six for a 2-year term until 2009 (elections will be held at the 2009 World Championships for six new Commission members for a 2-year term). The remaining 6 athletes and the Commission Chairperson will be appointed by the IAAF Council in November 2007 for a 4-year term until 2011. As such, the Commission is composed of nineteen members.
