Why would Sawano pass his 3rd at 5.55m? I could understand if it were the final, but what would he gain by giving himself only one attempt at 5.65m? Your main goal in qualifying is to not go out, not play passing games. He would have been better off taking that 3rd jump at 5.55m so he'd potentially have 3 jumps at 5.65m and not one.
PoleVaultPlanet is coming.....
Was Sawano's 2nd & 3rd back to back? If so, I could understand passing the third to buy some recovery time. Otherwise, not a good move.
After watching the few jumps on Vs. last night...
Hooker overstrides badly at the box. He was doing this a few weeks ago when he jumped 5.87 and bailed several times that day. Definitely needs to fix that to win.
Ecker looked really good. He'll clear 5.90 tomorrow.
Walker looked very good and made 5.70 by 8-9". I'd give him a slight edge right now.
Oh yeah, Brad, '00 called. They want their frosted tips back.

"You have some interesting coaching theories that seem to have little potential."
