Street Meet in Switzerland (Langenthal BE)

Unread postby Nicole » Mon Aug 27, 2012 11:42 am

Dear Pole Vaulters

On August 31th there is a street meet in a small town called Langenthal in Switzerland and they are still looking for some male and female pole vaulters.
Langenthal is an hour drive away from Zurich and interested pole vaulters would be picked up and brought back from and to Zurich.

It is not going to be an official competition. Each athlete gets 6 jumps where he/she can choose the height and the best two jumps will count. Men and women will compete against each other. Women will be given about a 1 meter handicap in the height calculations (ex: 4.40m for women = 5.40m for men) The exact handicap will be communicated at the start of the competition. The meet is going to be with music and hopefully a big crowd.

The prize money will be as follow (one CHF is about one Dollar):
1. = SFR 3000.—
2. = SFR 2000.—
3. = SFR 1500.—
4. = SFR 1000.—
5. = SFR 500.—
6. = SFR 300.—

One night at the Hotel “Bären” will be offered for each athlete. They are also willing to pay for travel expense up to 600 CHF

So if anyone is interested in a spontaneous trip to Europe this is your chance :-) The field does don't look incredible strong so far since there is the diamond league meet in Zürich the day before. Michel Frauen and Mitch Greeley are confirmed and some Swiss guys (sb around 5.20/4.10 for the Swiss, I won't be jumping due some injuries)

For further information please contact the meet director Marcel Hammel 0041 79 607 26 83 / m.hammel@besonet.ch or me (nicole_buechler@bluewin.ch)

Cheers
Nicole
