Fabiana Murer’s 4.70m vault on Sunday (19) highlighted the 29th “ Troféu Brasil de Atletismo”, the national club competition that serves as national championships. The “Troféu” took in São Paulo from 15-19 September on the new track “Adhemar Ferreira da Silva” of the Olympic Centre.

Murer, this year’s World indoor champion in the Pole Vault, closed her 2010 season with a decisive victory over Joana Costa (4.15m). This was the sixth national title for the 29-year-old from Campinas, who this year had improved her South American record to 4.85m at the Ibero-American Championships in San Fernando, Spain (4 June).

“I wanted to end the season with a good performance at the Troféu in front of my family, and the fans. My coach (Élson Miranda) was looking for a Vault over 4.70, and I was able to please him with that,” said Murer who ended the competition with three misses at 4.90m.
