A first-attempt clearance at 5.55m gave Brazilian Fabio Gomes da Silva the victory in the Pole Vault. The South American record holder at 5.77m, da Silva went out at 5.65m. American Jeremy Scott took second over Poland’s Przemyslav Czerwinski, the European bronze medallist.
