I am track and field all the way but the most phenomenal event of this olympics is going to have to be the mens swimming 4x100 when Jason Lezak comes from almost a body length behind in the last 50 to take gold and DESTROY the World Record. Lezak also had the fastest relay split of all time with 46seconds which is over a second and a half under his open PR. That is like Jeremy Wariner splitting about a 41.8 in the 4X400.
And here is a quote from Alain Bernard (world record holder in 100m and the French anchor)...
“The Americans? We're going to smash them. That's what we came here for,” Bernard said.
oh and he also stated befor the race,
“The 100m favourite, it’s me. If I didn’t believe I was, I wouldn’t be here at all,” he said yesterday.
“I’ve always said that 10 to 15 swimmers could be on the podium. But physically, I’m on top.
But im going to have to say right now Lezak would have to be on top!
ps. This also keeps Michael Phelps in the running for 8 gold medals. (Just his excitement durring the final leg of the relay made this race so much better).
Only way I think this could be topped is if Walker jumps 6.16 on a 4th attempt try because he and Hooker are tied at 6.15.

I know! That was an amazing race. I really thought it was over! And Michael looked like some sort of Roman god in his triumphant exclamation!

As many times before, your neighbors from north will help. Go there:
http://www.cbc.ca/olympics/ondemand/
At the right, under "Highlights" find "Day 3: Swimming - Men's 4x100M relay" and enjoy. That was really remarkable race.

That was simply amazing. I just about jumped through the roof when I saw them win like that after the French bashed us so badly. Their faces were priceless. It was just fantastic.
