abs

Unread postby MillerTime » Fri Mar 03, 2006 12:02 am

ever since i was like 12, ive always had a 4-pack, i goto the gym all the time and do the ab-mach every time i go. almost every night, i do the bicycle exercise, i always watch what i eat. we had a sit-up competition during one practice, and i did over 500 before the coach stopped me, and he said i was the only person doing them correctly. is it possible that im a freak and only have 4 ab muscles instead of the usual 6? i feel 2 little bumps above my 4-pack, could they be abs? i heard that everyone has abs, most people just have fat in the way. that sounds right, whats the best way to get rid of that little bit of fat, and get them abs sticking out??

thanks!

EVERY pole vaulter should wear the cover off of at least one medicine ball per year!

You're either too fat to have the other two show or you lack the tendons that cause the bulge. I doubt it's a big deal either way. Purely aesthetics.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, like all the posts say it really just for looks and a 4 pack is a whole lot better than the big one pack 95% of Americans have. I love med ball I think it is one of the best. However, I believe the all time best ab exercise is doing circles on a pommel horse. I still firmly beleive my abs have never been or ever will be as strong as when I was doing gymnastics full time when I was 11-12 years old. Pommel circles are so great because your body hits every position and strain is put on your entire core with each circle you do. You work the large muscles and the stabilazation muscles all at once from your quads to your upper abs and back. Gymnastics exercises in general is fantastic for abs, but I felt like pommel horse especially was an awesome ab workout. Get a pommel or mushroom etc, and practice doing circles you will be surprised at how much it works your abs if you have never done it (of course it will take awhile to get coordinated to actually do circles) Plus I think it is a very fun way to work your abs, better than crunches for sure. You don't see many elite gymnasts who don't have a monster 6-pack.

i have such a big appetite though! i dont eat breakfast, i usually eat half a box of cereal in class around 1-2, then something at work around 4-6, then depending if i ate at work, ill either eat a big meal or a little snack around 9, then goto bed around 11-12.

should i switch the cereal to the morning and nothing for lunch? and i heard about people eating like 6 little meals throughout the day, does that work?

what are some things you guys eat, whats low in calories/fat, but fill you up?

i mostly eat eggs, cheerios, cinnimon toast crunch, froot loops, carrots, celery, applesause, mixed fruit, PB&J's, pizza, ham & cheese sandwiches, ham subs, vegetable soups. Actually, if you see me eating, 95% of the time it will probably be something from the list above. should i stop eating anything up there, should i add more variety?

You definitely need to eat breakfast and lunch. Even if you are not hungry. Your metabolism slows down when you starve yourself for over 12 hours of the day.

It sounds like you need to add more protein to your diet as well.

eat a large breakfast, medium lunch, small dinner. thats the best way. cause you need a large breakfast to start your metabolism (make sure you at least eat SOMETHING within 45 of waking up), a decent lunch to help get through the day, and a small dinner so you can sleep good.

and about what to eat, do make sure to add more variety. im sure i would get bored of just those foods. if you like mexican--make yourself enchiladas or tacos sometimes, those are usually pretty low fat and good for you (not the stuff at taco bell tho, too bad :( ) pasta is good right before a meet, for energy. hmm i had a website of easy to make/healthy foods but i kinda lost it--just search on google, they have a lot of websites like this.

kk hope that helps this is mostly advice i got from swimming but im sure it would work for vault too

chill. everyone has abs, their major muscles in the body, its just that not everyone can have every muscle defined. there is a specific name for it but i dont remember it one time, you could have stronger abs than some skinny kid where they just show, you just dont have them developed correctly... look at some body builders and strong men... we know their jacke dout of their minds and 10x stronger and bigger but sometimes dont get fully developed 6 packs. look at mariusz pudzianowski... 3x worlds strongest man, only has the major top 4 developed
