left side handicaped
i'm a right handed pole vaulter - weigh 125 - i have recently been blowing through poles 125 13' and a 130 12', so i decided to move up to the next size pole i could find a 140 13', ive been shot out onto the runway like 20 times probably but its the only pole that has any potential for me, finally i'm starting to get to the mats, but i have a problem, after about 10 vaults i get this horrible pain in my left shoulder, bicept, and elbow(im a right handed vaulter) and a bad pain in my left knee. Will this go away as i get stronger or is it because my technique is wrong, has anybody else had this problem, what should i do????

was holding at the same as on the 120lb but today i moved up to the top of the pole, so about 6" higher than ever before.
i don't bend it a huge amount, maybe 45 degrees????, maybe more,- today i started getting far enough maybe so my standards would be anywhere from 15 to 20, i get verticle, but i can't get as high as when i used the 120lb, my arm still hurts pretty bad after every practice, and now i'm flying everywhere, way to left near the standards......any help anywhere? sorry, this probably doesn't make much sense.

I would advise against holding higher. holding higher causes you to do one of two things: bend the pole alot and not get in or bend the pole alot and go very deep. Sounds like you are holding too high and not getting in. Solution: HOLD LOWER!! The lower you hold, the more penetration you will get into the pit. It also sounds like a stiff pole, so don't hold too low or you wont bend. So, I would say hold no more than 3" higher than you did on the 120. i hope that helps

as far as you pains, see a trainer if your school has one. If not, see a doctor.

I think I know what the pain is that you're talking about.
Lately, I've been bending the pole, and erm, my arm has been semi-straight during the recoil, which probably causes the pain.
Man, second time I hurt my deltoid today, I could swear I heard something in my shoulder...
