The 6 jump rule (for anyone who doesnt know) is where in a meet you cna ohnly take a total of 6 jumps to speed up the competition.
ive heard that only new jersey does this, and ive also heard that only teh northeast does it, can anyone clarify on what the deal is with the 6 jump rule?

Not much to clarify as you have the correct way the event would be conducted.
I know of no place in NY that has ever used this method.
This was in the 2004 USATF rules book as an experimental rule. They actually called it a "fixed number of attempts" rule. Which means the games committee decides how many attempts that would be. Could be 6, could be 7 etc.
Fortunately, USATF removed this rule in 2005. NF never had such a rule. But you know those games committee people, they seem to do basically watever they want. However, I must add that it's not documented under the GC authority rule sections. So it's not clear to me how they decide to run a vertical jumps event this way.
