Well maybe now you'll understand a little better why it pretty much is the "California Pole Vault Association" even though its name is the North American Pole Vault Association. Its no secret that the organization is not set up to give vaulters a chance to win big money. Its set up to give vaulters a great atmosphere to jump in. And with the lack of money the NAPVA has to even pay for athletes travel, its no wonder it is pretty much completely based in California. I'm sure Fraley would love to be able to have meets all over the nation, but unfortunately our sport doesn't have vast amounts of money flowing around. The point is, if you're gonna have an exhibition competition with out much or any prize money, you're gonna need to have it with in a reasonable distance from a large population of good vaulters, like California or Arkansas. Other wise they're simply not going to pay $700 to travel some where where they can't even bring home enough prize money to pay off the trip.

Maybe you should think first.
I did a quick search on Orbitz for a flight from LA to Pocatello that weekend. Came up with $500 as the cheapest fare. Someone coming from say Jonesboro or Texas would probably have to pay around 700. Not exactly something a guy jumping 17-18' can afford for one meet.

If somebody does want to have a vault exhibition, maybe they could maximize their available funds by organizing it in an airport hub city (LA, Dallas-Fort Worth, Phoenix, Atlanta). It's always a cheap fare to these airports, usually $100-200 roundtrip, plus there's plenty of 17'+ post-collegiate vaulters around the first 3 cities...DFW is within driving distance of Jonesboro.

"If you've got a position on the issue why don't you say it. Don't just post to hear yourself talk. Becca why don't you go ahead and get rid of this guy or at least delete his post."
Instead of crying to Becca why don't you send me a pm and tell me how you really feel about me.

you're the one who who started it with a rude comment that was totally unecessary, so don't go acting like victim here. I hope you don't call everyone a dick that you disagree with. grow up a little and try to not be so rude next time.
