2004 Olympic gold medalist Tim Mack will lead the field in the Fred Schmertz men's pole vault, where he'll be challenged by 2008 Olympic Games fourth-place finisher and two-time Millrose winner Derek Miles, who ended his 2009 campaign ranked #5 in the world. France's Renaud Lavillenie, the 2009 World Outdoor bronze medalist, will also be in the mix. In the Fred Schmertz women's pole vault, American record holder and 2008 Olympic Games and World Indoor Championships silver medalist Jenn (Stuczynski) Suhr will be favored over a talented field that includes 2009 World Outdoor Championships silver medalist Chelsea Johnson. The 2006 NCAA Indoor champion, Johnson earned her first top-ten world ranking when she finished her 2009 season ranked #9 by T&FN.
Millrose - Hollis, Miles 5.60, Johnson 4.50

Re: Millrose - Suhr (Stuczynski), Johnson, Lavillenie, Miles...
I do not think USATF writer of press release has a clue. Can I say, ignorant about the current state of pole vault? Otherwise, clearly... to attract spectators, one may highlight the fact that two men have cleared 6 meters and not present Lavillenie disrespectfully. It appears, as if they did not want to even bother with the press release. Wonder what is wrong with athletics in America. Begin with federation. Everyday people relate to statistics. Also, the fact that Johnson and Suhr are the only recent American medalist at major championships since, whenever, 2001?

Oh ... I forgot that Hollis is jumping. I really like Hollis ... and expect big things from him in the not too distant future!

Yes RG, I agree with your rankings.

FWIW, Derek will be hopping a redeye after the meet and heading over to Reno to coach his college vaulters!
Mack jumped 5.50 in 2 meets in jonesboro. All of the training center guys and girls spent about 2 weeks at Bell Athletics.

Re: Millrose - Suhr (Stuczynski) withdraws
Jenn (Stuczynski) Suhr has pulled out of Millrose. I don't know why, I just happened to notice her missing from the start list, and it was mentioned by USATF on Twitter a few hours ago.

Re: Millrose - Suhr (Stuczynski) withdraws
I've recently trained with Quiller and saw some pretty good jumps of him, over 5.65 from 6 lefts. He'll be competing from 8 lefts and he's certainly a 'big-meet jumper", so if all goes well, he'll me in the mix. My money is on Renaud for the win, and most likely 2nd for Miles, but if Rory has a good day, I wouldn't be surprised to see a PR of 5.70 or 5.75. -6P

I heard Chelsea cleared 14'9, I don't think that was the end of the meet but I really have no idea! I just talked to someone who got a text from the meet saying that.
