Vaulter Jenn Stuczynski Signs Pro Contract w/ adidas

BOSTON, Mass. (Feb. 25, 2006) – Pole vault phenom Jennifer Stuczynski will be managed by Boston-based Global Athletics & Marketing, Inc., and has signed a multi-year contract to compete for adidas, according to Mark Wetmore, president of GA&M.

Jenn Stuczynski burst onto the track-and-field scene a year ago when, as an unknown who had been vaulting for less than a year, she won the national title at the 2005 USA Indoor Championships. Since then, the 24-year-old who lives and trains in Rochester, N.Y., has become the #2 all-time American indoors behind only Stacy Dragila, the 2000 Olympic gold medalist and American record-holder. Her personal best of 15 feet, 4.25 inches was set on Jan. 14, making her the #4 woman in the world for 2006. Of the top 15 marks in the world this year, Stuczynski owns five.

Stuczynski is coached by Rick Suhr of Suhr Sports in Rochester.

A 2005 graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, Stuczynski was the 2005 NAIA indoor national champion in the pole vault. An all-around athlete, she also graduated as the school’s all-time leading scorer in basketball.

Stuczynski will defend her US indoor title tomorrow (Sunday) at the AT&T USA Indoor Championships in Boston.

Thats awesome that she got a contract and everything, and i'm not trying to dis Jen or Rick, but does anyone else think that by signing contracts and all of this right before the national championships it may have thrown her off a little. Also wouldnt it have been better for Jen to sign a contract in the summer after she breaks the American record which she is very capable of?? Thats just what I was thinking.

Nah I think it's better for her to sign it while she is doing so well.

Plus, she needed the money.
