Vault champ returns

Hoquiam pole vault record holders past, present and perhaps future were on hand for the Hoquiam Lions Club meeting Tuesday at the Elks’ club.

Lee Arthaud, who set the modern record in 1965 when he negotiated 14-6 in an Aberdeen-Hoquiam dual meet at the old Emerson Field venue, was in attendance.

Now retired after a long career working for Boeing, Arthaud lives in Everett and spends most of his time golfing â€â€
