Bob Hewitt has won multiple track and field medals in state, regional, national and international competitions.


Competitive spirit keeps Gresham man in the

Bob Hewitt is one part track and field athlete, two parts Sherlock Holmes.When the Gresham resident is training to run, jump or vault his 72-year-old body over 9-foot high poles, he delights in getting the dirt on his competition.

He Googles their name and performance history. He sorts through pages of meet results and standings. He hunts down every detail about their past performances and when he can’t, Hewitt has been known to call upon his friend in the private investigation business to help out.

His wife of 52 years, Rita, says he’s always been like this.
