McGee Joins WSU Track & Field Coaching Staff
Former Cougar will coach high jump and assist with all other jumping events and multis.

Aug. 17, 2005

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Matt McGee, a former Cougar thrower and volunteer assistant coach, has joined the Washington State University Track and Field coaching staff as a fulltime coach, Cougar Head Coach Rick Sloan announced Wednesday. McGee fills the WSU track coaching vacancy created when Kris Grimes accepted an assistant coaching position at the University of Nebraska last month.

"We are thrilled to have Matt McGee join our staff," Sloan said. "He brings a great deal of enthusiasm and knowledge to our jumping events. His responsibilities will be to continue to assist with the multis, as he did last year, but also to work in the jumps area."

McGee will help across the board with all jumping events but specifically be responsible for coaching the high jump. Sloan will continue to be the primary coach for the multi-events specialists (decathlon and heptathlon) and will also take on the coaching the pole vault and the triple jump. WSU assistant coach Ellannee Richardson will add the long jump to her sprints and hurdles duties.
