Oklahoma to reinstate the pole vault in 2010

Unread postby kev44000 » Wed Sep 24, 2008 12:12 pm

Word is Oklahoma will put in place a volunteer pole vault coach and be vaulting in 2010 or maybe with any walk-ons in 2009. My source of information is very good. MTS

Are there any other public colleges in Oklahoma that have vaulting programs? I know of 3 private colleges, SNU, ORU and OBU. However, tuition is high at private colleges and there may or may not be enough scholarship money to cover expenses.

Jerry i would google up the smaller schools in Oklahoma and see if they have a track program. Southeastern, Southwestern, Northeastern, Etc There are alot of small schools in Kansas also. Do some research and make some calls to coach's. Some of the smaller schools give more money.

Thanks for your reply Kevin. Research is exactly what I'm doing. I was just hoping someone on here more knowlegible than me might help steer me in the right direction. Earl the Great predicted 2 years ago that Jonathan would vault in college. I'm trying to do my part to make it happen.

Jerry I know S N U is expensive, but it a good school with a real good vaulting coach. If Jack had not been jumping 5.10 he would be going there i am sure. Joel does have some money to help out with. Give him a ring. He could make Jonathan an NAIA Champion. Kids have to go get a college degree to get any kind of job these days. It might not cost as much as you think. He also works around them if they have a job and he could commute. Good luck.

The sad thing is, Jonathan could have walked on at OU cheaper than going to SNU on scholarship. Hopefully, as the season progresses, we'll have more options.
