Rains Wins Pole Vault in Division II Record of 13-6 1/2
2/17/07
Minneapolis, Minn.--- Sophomore Katelin Rains (Spring Lake Park, Minn.) of the Minnesota State University women's indoor track and field team cleared a career-best 13-feet, 6 1/2-inches Saturday to win the pole vault at the University of Minnesota's Parents' Day Open. The meet took place in University Fieldhouse.
Rains' mark of 13-6 1/2 -- which she cleared on her first attempt -- not only set a new NCAA Division II record, but it also marked a new University Fieldhouse record and broke the MSU school record of 13-1 1/2 set by two-time NCAA champion Amanda Frame. She defeated her nearest competition by eight inches.
