Poljanec Named Slovenian Athlete of the Year
Junior pole vaulter Andre Poljanec was named Slovenian Track and Field Federation Male Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year.

University of Northern Iowa junior pole vaulter Andre Poljanec (Ljubljana, Slovenia) was named Slovenian Track and Field Federation Male Athlete of the Year in his respective age group for the second consecutive year.
Poljanec became a two-time all-American during the 2006 season, placing eighth at the Indoor and Outdoor NCAA Championships. He also took second place at the European cup in Greece, jumping 17-6 and placed second at the Slovenian nationals (17-8). Poljanec holds a personal-best of 18 feet in the pole vault.
During the 2005 season, he won the Slovenian National Championship with a jump of 17-6 and was in the finals of the European Championships for the 23 and under age group with a leap of 17-4. Poljanec also placed fourth at the European Cup in Sweden, jumping 17-2.
Poljanec is a four-time NCAA national qualifier and a three-time MVC Champion.
