And may I say that I think that it's awesome that this is coming up. Finally something that I can contribute to!
Sean, where are you based (state) or what colleges are you looking at? It might help us help you with specifics.
Just wondering

One last thing to add...
If you've read any of the other threads on pv scholarships, you know that significant ones are few and far between (and are only guaranteed for one year at a time).
If you need (reliable) money, academic scholarships are what you should aim for.

Agreed. At the university I coach at, we absolutely cannot help kids get in the school. We are not allowed to even bring kids on campus to visit unless they are basically guaranteed to get in.

15 ft is probably the minimum you can jump and still get scholarships. and thats assuming that youve got potential and arent one of the kids who grabs real high runs real fast and stands over 13'. also D3 doesnt give out scholarships only D1 and D2 do. I'm not sure about NAIA. im currently a senior and in the spot of finding a school right now. im most probably going to UMR but im goin on academic scholarships. I talked with the coach their and even if i dont start jumping like 15'+ until freshmen year or sophmore year etc i can still get a scholarship then.
pick a school you like for its academics. then check to see if you can at least walk on to the team. then start asking about their scholarship requirements. every school is different however this is a very hard sport to get any type of good scholarships in so good luck.

I am hoping to be a 15' vaulter at the end of this, my junior, year so no I'm not standing over 13' with a 15' pole so do schools contact you for track or do you have to go find them. I have heard so many people say that you have to go and find them if you want anything but I was wondering how if you have no idea of what school you are interested in.
VAULTERS ARE A CRAZY CREW BUT ITS A FUN RIDE!
basically do a search for schools that have your major and a track team. make sure they have a mens/womens team cause one college i really liked had womens track only so i got kinda disappointed. after that narrow it down into wat school has the type of academics your looking for. then go visit the college, contact the coaches, talk to students/jumpres at the college and first and foremost make sure you like the college. after that check to see if they have a good program. you should really base your decision on academics though cause coaches leave and programs change. the academic reputation and the experience at the school will generally stay the same.
theres tons of search engines out there that will find you a college with everything your looking for. as long as you have some general idea of either were you wanna go and wat you wanna major in its easy. oh and dont pick a school solely cause their program for the mojor of your choice is incredible, a lot of people wind up changing their major and if the rest of the school sucks then your stuck. look at the college in general and see if its wat you want.
