The floating "sinking" box when you step on it might be a factor if the vaulters step on it this week. I would suggest starting from the left or right side of the runway and step beside it instead. It is far enough away that it shouldn't cause any concerns at takeoff.

Just food for thought.

hey

i know this is a little late..

but there has been "issues' with the runway's

i noticed some "subtleties" in 2000 with t-mack... in 2004 adjustments were made and it worked..

for what it's worth..

1. everyone's mind set is that it is a fast runway... so they moved their step out... and most stretched into the takeoff..

therefore vaulters who already tend to stretch on the run .. stretch more and have a loss of speed and low takeoff..

it is not as fast as the track for a couple of reasons.. one. it seems the undersurface gets softer than the track undersuface in the heat and sun... a softer track is not generally as fast as a hard track...

issue 2.. the "crown" in the middle is pretty extreme... making the vaulter run "uphill" to the "MID".. that was putting tim to far out in 2000.. he didn't get it fixed until his last jump and blew through on the jump that would have put him on the team..

in 2004 he moved in closer at the start...and didn't "buy in" to the assumed fast runway....he still had a 54-8 "MID" but had the built up speed to "turn" the steps over into the plant.

i feel "long" striders will have the most trouble..and suggest a "tight' agressive run... feet down and early plant..
