Value of old, non-regulation pit?

Unread postby ifavault » Wed Jul 08, 2009 1:38 am

Can anybody provide a general value range for an old high school pit that is non-regulation size. I'm not sure of the exact dimensions yet, but it has a single front bun and likely 3 back pads with top cover. It is very likely short on both width and length, however it has been in dry storage for several years.

I know that something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay, but what value might someone put on this if in good condition? We have a functioning pit of regulation size at the high school and are considering selling this old one to cover costs for new poles and/or standards next season.

Pit location is just north of Seattle, Washington in Everett. It is not officially for sale yet, but just trying to get a ballpark figure. Thanks.

I'd guess at least $1,000. Your main market would be masters guys who want a pit in their backyard. Main downside here in WA is that it's so wet, it's tough to have backyard pits. But I've had plenty of people inquire over the years, so I think there is a market!

Your other market would probably be ex vaulters who know you don't need a regulation size pit to teach a junior high school beginner and who are putting a it in their back yard.
