Looking For A Scholarship?

Unread postby Bubba PV » Tue Apr 17, 2007 8:13 pm

Hey Guys and Gals. As a vaulter I went to college on a partial scholarship and earned a full ride along the way. As a coach at a D1 university, I was always on the look out for talent. Somewhere in between lays the parent and athlete that sometimes has glazed over eyes trying to figure out and gain the truth out of a sometimes very confusing system. There’s finally REAL help.

I was sent the book, A Hip Pocket Guide to Athletic Recruiting & Scholarships by a friend. I was so impressed by this book, the way it was written and the specific direction of the author, who got his two sons scholarships as a result. As he said to me, “I didn’t need to write the book for money as I’m sure I’ll lose money. I needed to write it because of what I learned on the journeyâ€Â

Mr. Sparks,

Thank you for your kind words regarding my book; A Hip Pocket Guide to Athletic Recruiting & Scholarships.

As you mentioned, my book was not written for financial gain. Indeed, it will probably be a loss in that regard. My goal in writing A Hip Pocket Guide to Athletic Recruiting & Scholarships is to level the recruiting playing field for parents and student athletes by sharing the knowledge that I have gleaned from my recruiting forays that has enabled me to successfully secure athletic scholarships to D 1 universities for both of my children.

As with any new endeavor, there is often a sharp learning curve. This book will dramatically flatten that curve thus facilitating every parent and athlete’s goal of securing an athletic scholarship.

I'd like to second Bubba's sentiments with regards to "A Hip Pocket Guide to Athletic Recruiting and Scholarships."

Having been a high school, club, and college coach, I've seen the recruiting process from both sides of the fence. So many years I've watched kids blindly and aimlessly search for a college and hope for a scholarship opportunity instead of making one for themselves by knowing the facts.

Nikolai's book does indeed "level the playing field" by giving prospective student-athletes all the facts, in a sense "arming them" for battle. There is a lot that the general public does not know about this process. This book is a wealth of information that is easy to read.

I highly recommend purchasing "A Hip Pocket Guide to Athletic Recruiting and Scholarships" if you are a high school student or parent of one if you're truly serious about competing in college.

A Hip Pocket Guide to Athletic Recruiting and Scholarships

As a mother of a high school athlete, I was totally awed by A Hip Pocket Guide to Athletic Recruiting and Scholarships. I’d attended all the school information nights, engaged every parent watching the events in the fields and the stands, and read through lots of leaflets and websites, but nothing compared to having it laid out in this direct and easy to read book. It gives a plan of what to do from A to Z. It gave me insight about the business side of the recruiting process that I had never imagined. And, it gave me motivation to pursue this “dreamâ€Â
