Mike Morrison’s finest sports moment might have come at this spring’s Eastern Region track meet.
He already was established as one of the nation’s top high school pole vaulters, yet he wasn’t satisfied. Specifically, what he wanted were the school, region and all-time state records, which were held by former Olympian Lawrence Johnson, who also was a Great Bridge star. With one vault, Morrison moved ahead of Johnson in the record books when he cleared 17-6½, still the nation’s best high school vault this year.
“I’m sure when Lawrence Johnson did it, he didn’t think anybody would break his mark for a long time,â€Â

decath anyone?? Thats simply incredible, what work ethic, it really sets the model for every high schooler in the country to strive for, thank you for that!!
On a side note, i didnt know you were allowed to compete in 6 events if you wanted to!!! In NY you can only compete in up to 4, or 5 if you do the pentathalon.

The greater the challenge, the more glorious the triumph

I do believe he has done a few with really good results, 17-6 in high school would be a shame to lose him as a full time vaulter though...
year old result...

It has been discussed in other threads, the maximum number of events you can compete in varies from state to state.
