Re: Crossfit? Really? What is wrong with our elite athletes.

Totally Agree with Bel. Dimas is a god. I would argue that training multiple energy systems is important for 99% of athletes. However not for the athletes on the extreme ends of the spectrum such as Olympic lifters or ultra-marathoners. In those cases, you can focus ~100% of your training on your re...

Re: EIUVLTR is in the Well

Bands are a good tool to use but you have to be sure that you're progressing in difficulty just as you would with by adding weight to a barbell. Buying some form of a dynamometer to figure out how far you have to stretch one band before it is as difficult as the next one would be a good idea. They w...

Re: EIUVLTR is in the Well

I'm not up-to-snuff on all the minute details of Triphasic Training. I read a couple articles on elitefts about it a while back but that's about it. What I do know is that it's a form of block periodisation designed to help strength athletes. It works and works well, but so do a lot of other program...

EIUVLTR is in the Well

Some forums have a feature where their prominent posters will go into what is called "the well." Basically you can ask me any question (Training related, not technique) you want and I will respond to as many as I can with a well thought out answer. I welcome all criticism so bring it ;) . ...

Re: No distance

Distance running is detrimental, but looking at it from a purely substrate perspective leads to a lot of problems. Just don't run distance. Your cardiovascular system will get sufficiently worked via vaulting, sprints and intervals.

not to mention the scholarship money that is just thrown at these girls, whereas a team of guys only has pennies to split up between them.

Re: State Training

It's okay, knowledgable pole vault coaches are hard to come by. Its a sport that requires a lot of research on behalf of the athlete, and sometimes a lot of $$$ as well. I would say that at this point in the season, you should be vaulting first. You want to have the most energy for your vaulting wor...

Re: General Competition to Peaking

in my experience its better to hit the takeoff at 8m/s while you're still accelerating than 9m/s if you've already hit top speed and are decelerating. This is why you can seemingly jump quite high from 3Ls compared to your long run, because you are still accelerating which allows for a more powerful...

Re: Pole vault

Hahaha, no it absolutely is not. It's called gibberish. You're the one who came onto the forum asking questions that could have been answered if you just looked through the threads for about 90 seconds. Maybe we just don't like answering the same questions over and over again.

Re: General Competition to Peaking

Whatever your current limiting factor is, is what you should be working on. Chances are it is your form. Very few kids your age have perfect form and are being held back by their lack of top end speed or general strength. Also peaking isn't something that really pertains to novice or intermediate va...

Re: Pole vault

Considering you can't write properly, I'm guessing you'll be ineligible most of the time due to bad grades. So if you want to be able to pole vault at all, then go home and study. Then once you're passing your classes and can communicate clearly, maybe people on here will understand you and help you...
