Day 4
Clovis, CA to Grants, NM
This day was a lot of driving through the desert.
Goodbye Clovis!
Just chillin
We stopped to eat in Seligman...
We were going to eat at the Roadkill Cafe... but the whole town ran out of water or something! All the stores were closed!
I think this used to be a real jail.
Yum? We may never know...
These are some of the interesting people that Zack and I met....
One of many funny signs at that store.
Next we stopped in Williams. Fortunately they had running water, so we looked around for a place to eat.
No we didn't stop here.
This is where we ate! Not a very good picture, but we got a table right by the street and got to see a few tourists and some bored looking locals.
This is the view out of the rear window of my car when the poles are on it.
Another Route 66 landmark rotting away.
The Arizona scenery
Every town needs one of these.
Trucks are so much fun.
Tempting, but we passed.
The road
Pretty sunset pictures! I like this one because of the flag at the bottom.
We ended the day in Grants, NM.
Zack says: Ugh. We got up at 6:30 and left pretty soon after that. Not much to say except that we drove across the California desert, across Arizona and a little bit of New Mexico and arrived in Grants, NM about 10:30 and got a room at the Best Western. Best hotel in town! Yep Arizona. Not much to say except that theres lot of scrub brush. Liked the area around Flagstaff though. If you've ever driven I-40 you know what I'm talking about. Stopped at a cafe in Williams, AZ (Route 66 place) for dinner. Some nerd running a bike taxi thing tried to talk to us as we were eating. Luckily he wandered off on his own. Another fairly long day ahead of us tomorrow as we go to Bruce Caldwell's.
