According to Gus, Isinbayeva previously had a WL 4.73, and last year she had a best of 4.60 (15-1) outdoors.

4.82 is 15-10 by my handy metric conversion chart.

She jumped near 15' as an 18 year old a few years back. That year she had a bit of a 100m-sprinter's-mouth on her and promised WRs would be coming from her soon.

She's coached by Bubka's old coach, Vitaly Petrov.

Think the vault was still going on when the tv coverage stopped keith, but it is still shameful that not one vault was televised.

You guys are really lucky they show track meets live over there. We rarely get that in the US.

Yeah i just thought that aswell, because, i saw sventlana in the background as the 200 final was on and that was the last track event and as she only jumped 4m 54cm or something, the vault must have gone on for a while longer to get to 82.

From the pic of the WR jump it appears she did it on 14' poles.

Those Russians know how to be POLE VAULTERS instead of Pole benders.

Anyone know why stacy wasn't even there to defend the record?
