Differences in College vs. HS

Unread postby wacky274 » Mon Oct 14, 2002 12:38 pm

Hey, for all you college vaulters out there, what do you think the main differences in vaulting in HS and vaulting in College are?
Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them-a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill. - Muhammad Ali

Talent in cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work.

When you are in college you will have a physical right off the bat. When you go to that... drink lots of water. Nothing worse than sitting in a room full of people who could not pee enough and holding a jar with a little of your pee and drinking water until you gotta go again :P

The meets are more competitive...and the cross bar doesnt start at 6 feet...lol. For me, workouts are a lot harder cuz in high school i only vaulted, i never did sprint workouts, and here we only vault twice a week, meaning i have to run the other days. I also find the vaulters are really really close from spending lots of time together. Thats all i can think of for now.

College is a different place than HS. for one u usually dont have to be "at school" from like 7a-3pm. Ur schedule allows u for more freedom, and more time for pole vault amoungst other things. Also most colleges have an abundance of poles that u usually wouldn't find at most HS's. The workouts are harder , the meets are harder , the classes are harder. But it is a lot more fun than HS.
