FiberSport PorTaPit Black Poles

Unread postby Azavatsky » Wed Feb 03, 2016 9:20 am

I found some old poles at my school today and was wondering if anyone could give an opinion of them or some information about them. They are FiberSport Black poles 14' 150 and 160 lbs both are like new no scuffs or anything the labels are in near perfect condition not sure they have ever been used. AFHS145x 9500936 14' 150 and AFHS146x 9902583 14' 160. Wondering if they are still durable enough to use I have ref hundreds of posts but the most info anyone says is that they are redicilously heavy which I al ready know. How old are they? Are they good poles?

How old? Probably 20 yrs or so.

Good Poles? It depends on your purpose. Unless they have a weight label that meets the national HS rules, you won't be able to use them in meets. You said they are very heavy - that tells me that they are likely "Training Poles". FiberSport Training poles were very popular back in the day because they were unbreakable and could take a lot of abuse. They had very thick walls, but were heavy to carry. That can be useful for building strength and pole drop timing. Going to a competition pole would make it feel light as a feather.

Bottom line, you can safely use them to practice on, but you probably can't (or would not want to) use them in a meet.

Thank you! They have weight lables in perfect condition and say may be used in competition on the label as well but based on your input and what I have read in other boards I think that is just stating that they are capable of being used in competition. I'm excited to use them in training with my green freshman.!!!
