Wraps for poles

Unread postby coachstark » Tue Jan 26, 2016 5:24 pm

Good Afternoon,

Looking to re-wrap a few of our poles. Where do other vaulters/ coaches purchase their wraps/ vinyl from?

Many thanks!

Packing Tape is very similar to what they originally used for wrapping the poles. Lots of colors & patterns available. Just do a search for packing tape - you'll have many sellers to choose from. Or, go to your local office supply store, Wal-Mart/K-mart/Target, or home improvement/hardware store and see what they have on hand.

Just like grip-tape, remember to wrap from the bottom up.

I sometimes use rubber tape such as http://www.amazon.com/X-Treme-Tape-TPE- ... ubber+tape

The advantage is that the rubber gives you a much better grip than vinl or athletic cloth tapes. The disadvantages are that it is thicker and therefore adds noticeable diameter to the pole, it is hard to mark if you normally put inch markings on your pole for lower grips, and tears fairly easily. I've never had an official question it at a meet. Price is also a consideration, I get it with supplies furnished by customers on my day job, and it is therefore surplus for me...
