So has he ever considered specialising?

“We’ve talked about it, and if I did do it I think it would be in the pole vault for the 2020 Olympics, just for a bit of fun [he has a PB of 5.30m],” he says.

In his current condition, if he specialized in the vault for one year he would be a 19+ no problem. Hopefully he still has athletic ability to long jump close to 27 feet in 2017 when his vault career starts :)

I guess pole vault would be the most fun specialization. Long jump is his best event but it would not be a challenge because he is already one of the best in the world at that, just being fresh one day he might could win gold in that. I do like the idea of the Dec / long jump double. Maybe pole vault long jump double in 2020?
