That's 12 over 4.55... they're done now, right?

What a wacky sport where some homeless woman sleeping off a bender can wake up, grab a pole, and qualify for the finals.

Ptacnikova with a clutch third attempt clearance! Plenty of height too. That should bump Ledaki out of the final.

12 vaulters remain, and that is the goal for finals. HUGE SHOCKER that Murer does not make finals.
They will not jump any more.

First Saturday I sleep in for months and I wake up just in time to watch the live feed of the ladies packing up their poles and cooling down. I will have to do better for Rio

Re: OG WPV qualifying - Live updates will be here!
Order of how I felt they looked...
Isi >>>>>> Silva >> Bleasdale, Speigelburg > Suhr.
Hard to judge Suhr though. Was it just a safe clearance or is that her condition level? Only made the bar by about 4" and didn't look fast on the runway with her hamstring wrapped.

I don't recall a Q round ever being shut down early just because they were "close enough to 12 and didn't feel like going up another bar." I think if they have something like 11 clear at 4.55 and 3 out but tied at 4.50, they might take all 14.
They will routinely shut down with 13 or 14 if they all clear the same bar.

Re: OG WPV qualifying - Several surprises!
I wish they had shut it down after 4.50 and just had Jenn jump 4.55... sure would have been nice to have Murer in the final!
Oh well, it is what it is. I am SUPER pumped about Becky making the final! And of course glad that Jenn made it through. I wish Lacy could have joined them!

Re: OG WPV qualifying - Several surprises!
-Kinda shocked that all three Germans advanced - knew that spiegelburg and strutz were good enough to do it, Ryzih not so much.
-Murer obviously the big shock not to advance, but I also thought Feofonova's NH was surprising.
-Several awkward moments and landings - Bengtsson had one where she got off the pole, was horizontal over the bar, then looked like Wiley Coyote on the old cartoons - just stopped mid-air with no apparent reason and fell straight down, still horizontal. Also, Feofonova came down straight in the box on one, and Dennison looked like she forgot to jump on her last attempt - just ran straight into getting rejected.
-Alana Boyd living life dangerously, but good for her to make it through.
-Disappointed Janson didn't advance (Schwartz too, to a lesser degree), but good for Holliday.
Podium Favorites--
Isinbaeva - huge air over the bar, looked the strongest of the advancers
Suhr - tough to tell with just one jump, but I'd say it looked more a case of "Let's see how little effort I can expend in this jump and round" than any real note on her conditioning or whatever
Silva - Definitely in the same range as Suhr, just kinda do what needs to be done today and go home.
Dark Horses--
Ryzih - looked very impressive in her jumps - took more jumps than the women above, but didn't seem to be wasting effort on any of them
Bleasdale, Holliday - needed an extra effort or two, but generally solid
Need improvement AND bad days from those above--
Rogowska, Spiegelburg, Boslak, and Strutz - all looked like they had a moment or two of panic with jumps that were missed, but settled down and got the job done when pressure was on
Medaling would be a monumental upset--
Boyd, Ptacnikova - squeaked through, but will need to up their antes to have a good showing in the finals
--Skip
