NCAA West Region WPV results

Unread postby achtungpv » Fri May 25, 2012 7:27 pm

Sutej is easily the class of the field. She didn't even bother to take off her cap for her only clearance which was by 2 feet.

Derek Miles has quickly become one of the top college vault coaches. His athletes look FANTASTIC. They are machines.

There were two notable non qualifiers: Diebold blew through badly on all 3 jumps even though it appeared she moved up a pole each time. Weygandt wasn't close on any attempts and was definitely favoring her injured leg.

Haarklau is a beast. I'm shocked to see she's only a freshman. She has the potential to be great. It'll be interesting to see if she can get there.

She is from Norway and is 21 years old. Used to be a heptathlete and has some pretty good marks in other events. I wonder how she ended up at Mizzou as a vaulter... she did heps only in 2010, no PV, and did not compete at all in 2011.

Katrine Haarklau jumped 4,10 when she was 18 (three years ago). She says she stills wants to do hepthathlon, but she has struggled a lot with injuries. She took seventh overall in the heptathlon at the 13th IAAF World Junior Championships in 2010!
