Which states have middle school vault?

Unread postby birdi_gurlie » Sun Mar 18, 2012 11:16 pm

I was just wondering what states had middle school vault as a sport. I mean, one upside to working with a homeschool USATF team instead of a high school is I'm able to work with even the middle schoolers. (Shoot, I think one of the elementary school girls wants to try it sometime.) So, in a state without middle school vault, I can work with the middle schoolers.

Anyway, I know California and Texas probably have it but other than that, what states have middle school level vault?

Some leagues in WA still have it. It seems to be pretty popular in IL and TX. I have a cousin in OH that vaulted as a middle schooler last year, so I guess at least some parts of OH have it.

Missouri has junior high (7th and 8th grade) vault. Iowa, on the other hand, is a progressive state. They have no pole vault in middle school or high school.

NC and SC start in high school. Junior High students allowed to come up an compete at the high school they will attend in any sport not offered in JH.

SC DOES NOT HAVE INDOOR TRACK EITHER !!!!!!! BIG DISADVANTAGE FOR YOUNG VAULTERS TRYING TO GET TO COLLEGE TO VAULT> !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In TX, middle schools have it but some school districts don't support it due to costs (i.e. Austin ISD). Most do.
