OK so i just got 3 new carbon poles! I've never jumped on a carbon pole so i'm a little apprehensive. Is it really that different from jumping on any other pole?

Depends on the brand but I think the biggest difference is carry weight.

I really can't even tell the difference with the smaller ones. I use a 13'6 160lb mistic carbon for a 5 and its hard to tell the weight difference. But ive also used 14'6 carbons carbon fx's, and carbon ultralights, with those I can really tell the weight differnce.

i have a 15 6 155 carbon fx and a 15 6 155 pacer fx and i can really tell the difference in the weight becuase i can barely keep the pacer fx up when im trying to run

the carbons in my experience do have a little extra kick. In the words of Emeril Lagasse, " oh yeah babe"

CARBON POLES

Carbon poles should feel lighter, be skinnier, and of course cost more to produce, they should not be made to return to vertical faster.
Doing so will cause the vaulter to clear the bar by a mile and come down on the bar with no penetration into the pit.
So yes they can throw you higher in the air if made to come back fast, but why would you want a pole that does that?
Wouldn't a pole that times with you the vaulter provide more clearances and better results?
Poles below 14' made of carbon in my opinion is a waste.
Why well Carbon is a stiffener and to make them the right size you have to take out glass to keep the carbon from over stiffening the pole. There is only so much you can take out, so you can make it smaller gripped but how small is to much? Another way is to use E glass which is not as strong as S glass to soften the pole and make it cheaper to blend with the carbon. Or you could just get a S glass pole that will be lighter than carbon which will perform better in those sizes below 14'.
A S glass blend pole will be cheaper, lighter, and will perform better and are available in Spirit, ESSX and also in PACER poles fancy that?. Save your money.
Carbon on special order and $50 more are available in 14' 430 poles 160 lbs up and 14'7" 445 poles 160 lbs or more for lightness
But not to make the pole come back faster than the athlete can get back on or to force the athlete to speed the later half of their vault up.
POLE Vaulting
