Pole bent the wrong way?

Unread postby Naughty Joe » Sat Dec 12, 2015 2:29 pm

I have a pole which bends with the manufacturer label (UCS spirit label in the middle of the pole) facing toward the vaulter. All of the other poles my school has bend with the letters facing the other way, toward the pit. Is the pole only supposed to bend with the label facing outward?

I wouldn't rely on any mfr labels, especially now that you've discovered that they're inconsistent.

It takes just a minute to test it by prying on it while it's in the box (or against a wall).

When you locate the natural bend, mark it with a thin strip of tape near the butt, so that when you grip the pole with your top hand and rest it on your shoulder (just before you start your runup), you'll see the tape facing up.
