Last minute top pad repair

Unread postby Mcleodjw » Fri Mar 27, 2015 4:56 pm

Hello Everyone,
This winter the mice had fun on the top pad.
I need any and all advise on how to repair a top pad.
The AD will not replace this year. I'm searching for all foam suppliers in Michigan.
Any ideas how to repair the mesh?

Thanks for all tips,

John McLeod

Have you tried contacting any pit manufactures to see if they can do a repair, or sell you the material you need to repair it yourself?

Here's a few places I found when I looked into pit repair myself. I can't vouch for them, I never contacted anyone but the company who made the pit.

Are there are any boat/marine fabricators (snap on covers, upholstery repair, etc.), or sail makers/repair near you. They certainly would have the machines to help you repair it. They may even be able to help you get material you need.

I did a search on "woven vinyl nylon mesh" and there is a lot to dig through. These two seemed interesting.

Good luck.

Try a local tarp maker for the trucking and/or tent industry. Our pit got torn up in a windstorm a few years ago and I was able to get mesh and vinyl fabric as well as the right kind of adhesive to fix tears in the solid and mesh vinyl sections of the pit. Don't know what kind of foam repair you need but upholstery shops and sewing/craft places carry pieces. For a bigger section look at the cheap non memory foam mattress pads. Good luck.

When high winds are forecast in our area, I unclip everything. It's easier to reassemble the pieces or dry it out than to repair or replace it. The storm that damaged ours tumbled the whole pit from the "D" zone behind one end zone of the football field to up against the grandstand fence at the 40 yard line. All of the damage was at the points where the pit and weather cover and top pad were clipped together.
May the Force be with you!

Thank you both for your tips and advice.

I will be contacting Foam Factory of Michigan this week. ( http://www.thefoamfactory.com/ ) A shameless plug.
It looks like the foam sheets I need can be acquired there.

As for the mesh, I'll be contacting the local tent/tarp company for possible materials and/or repair.

Thanks again,

John
