Sharp ESSX poles

Unread postby OAKPV2004 » Wed Mar 10, 2004 8:55 pm

I got these new essx poles and they are domiant, except for that they blow through every tip that I have put on it. About 3 pacer tips. Im not blaming ESSX because I blew through one old one on a Pacer carbon. but what can I do to solve this? Tape at the bottom?

yes thin poles do that our poles are so thin they are sharp, we even sand the ends to round them off.

Try placing a tape on the ends. we are working on a solution as we discussed

Alright, i figured puting a little tape around the edges might work, but i thought of that after practice today.

TIP:

i have had the same problem before, you can simply take some JB-weld and just coat the inside of the plug with it and let it dry.
when the jb-weld dries it creats a really hard surface which will keep the pole from cutting through the soft plastic.

I've got into a habit of replacing all my pole tips with spirit tips. My favorite were the rubber pacer tips, but we hav a butt load of spirit poles laying around

TAKE an object that can move up against the ridge lip of the top of the tip and slowly tap it off.

I KNOW THIS POST IS GOING TO INVITE A LOT OF SKEPTICISM AND comments

SO BRING THEM ON

Not only are we trying to produce, design and patent a pole tip that will last on our poles and fit all the other poles. We have a design that will enable you to jump higher!!!!! YES a pole tip that will give you the ability to add inches to your jump.
(Works only for vaulters jumping on 14-14'6" poles or longer)190
This is not an advertisment this is shop talk about a concept!!! They are not for sale and not produced yet. Engineering drawings availble upon request online at bruce@essxsport.com

I'm interested in seeing how these tips perform...go a look at them yesterday from a program on my comp., a conceptual idea (not photograph)...they're definitely original... but about the performance characterisitcs...we shall see...really makes you wonder how a pole tip can add inches to a vault...

If they allow the pole to roll over they will allow you to hit better position to improve your vault. If they grab the box and stop the pole from rolling over the pole uncoils to soon not allowing you to get on top and good position to benifit from the pole. Plus may allow you to jmp on bigger sticks. Just my opinion I use the pacer plugs and they work well and not matter what all plugs will have to be replaced sometime so use what you like.
