Should I care about Flex Numbers?

I've been coaching for three years under a certain system of progression from one pole to the next for my kids. Increase at the same length till 20lbs over there body weight, good penitration in to the pit, move up in length and drop the weight back down for the pole. This system has been working good for my short coaching career! Should I care about flex numbers for differant poles? Any feedback would be helpful thanks.

That sounds like a good system

You would want to be aware of flex numbers in the following situations:

- You are ordering a pole that will go between two other poles of the same length. Or any new pole really.
- An athlete is having trouble making a transition between two poles of the same length and brand, or it seems like going to a certain pole is never enough of a jump

They're really not something you need to be concerned about on a daily basis.
