How do you know when a pole is getting too old?

If fiberglass poles are well taken care of, they can last 20-30 years+.

You should stop using a pole if it has a scratch that is breaking the fiberglass strands, or other damage of the sort.

Thank you. I just moved to a new school, and I'm not sure how old the poles are, they look pretty retro, and no one seems to know when they were bought. But I'll definitely look for any scratches or things of that nature.
