Man brand new UCS pits are so HARD :dazed: Clemson has a very nice pair of them, but I seriously gave myself a headache from landing on them.

It still hurts... :confused:

Guess I need to stop hitting my head when I land ;)

My old HS coach is also the Jr High PE coach, so when he gets new pits all 7 PE classes each spend an hour jumping up and down on the pit. It actually works...so if you got the authority to abuse child labor, do it.

That is a great leg workout! We used to do that in gymnastics.

We got new pits last year (not UCS) the kids were complaining that they were really hard. I was thinking ya right your just not used to bottoming out on the old pits. After about four weeks I took some vaults from two lefts and had a headache for the rest of the day. Probably did more damage to my cervical spine than a helmet ever would. Thank god I married a chiropractor. ;)

yeah, we recruited the girls track team and ours, and convinced everyoen to jump on the pits, but they got bored with it after like, 10 minutes, so it didnt get em any softer. My coach suggested repeatedly dropping a car on them, but couldnt quite figure out how to do that. ;)

I think and it is my views only

I think and it is my views only that they anticipate some break down in the foam over the years. We use to provide a guarantee on crossbars and 99% of the ones that broke were being landed on with a UCS the first month they had the pits. I find that they do become softer as time goes by and in spite of the firmness of the UCS they are a well built and safe pit.

We try to offer a method of deceleration in our system using, foam, air and flaps of vinyl that support the system. When you land on our system it adjusts to the height you jump, your size, and your weight. As the foam breaks down it does so from the most used areas, which in our case is the small area of the top of the pyramid.

We think we have something here check it out FLD system;

If anything we do have an advantage of less glue spots to come undone over the years.

We never had UCS pits, as all of ours were custom made by Max Richey, but we'd recruit all the throwers to play on them for a day. Don't know if it ever helped or not, but it was sure fun to watch. :D

I have seen his pits thet are well made

Sometimes you just want more than a hamburger plain. you want tomato, sauce, pickles and all the extras

Just like pits; like run through skirts, antishift flaps, two colors, special designed system inside (pyramid), flaps to hold all together lexan clips, and possibly school logo or mascot on the side in 4 color.

We get our brand new UCS pit next week and I guess I am still excited to not be jumping on our old pits. Anything is better than the old ones. I will take the extra beatings.

haha, nice metaphor (or simile, rather) bruce. there's a chance our school might be gettin some new pits...don't know if they've already ordered them or not...perhaps my coach will opt for a triple swiss bacon cheeseburger on rye extra value meal

I dont know if I speak for any other older guys out there, but if you are a big fella like me, there is nothing better than a fresh hard pit. I would much rather come down on that than bottom out on an old pit and break pallets. Ive had many a bruised back from crappy soft pits. Plus with a hard pit you can throw a double front off your warm up run-throughs. There's nothing better than making a big bar and bouncing when you hit the pit!
