So, I was going through our ever growing inventory of poles... We've got 69 poles in the list right now spanning all the way back to 1984 and the majority of them are all still quite useable. (BTW, this is a DII college.) Anyway, some of them need some new plugs and the head coach said give him a list and he'll get them ordered. So I found several of them that need replacements and some of them I could find (or read) a tip size number, but I'm hoping the folks here at PVP could help me out a bit on the rest. If you have any poles similar to what I list below could you message me back with the tip size. Thanks.

Pacer III 16'5" - 175, 1989
Pacer 15'9" - 175, 1993 (says either 4 or 9)
Pacer Carbon FX 15 - 175, 2004
Rocket Trainer 12 - 130, 1998

The 15'9 - 175 will be a 9 not a 4
The 16'5 - 175 Pacer III will likely be a 7 or 8

If you can borrow a few to try that would be best. The plug size is usally on the inside of the old plug and olso written on the pole near the plug. Good luck.

The 12'130 is probably about an 18 or so.

Your best bet is to carefully measure them and then just give the guys at Gill Athletics a call. I am pretty sure they have a chart somewhere that says what size pole tip matches with what diameter pole.

I had a very similar problem a while back. Some of our poles date back to the 60s. Based on what I've cataloged, I'd say...

I concur that the 15'9" is a 9 and not a 4.

The 16'5 is probably 7 (we have an old pacer carbon 16'5" - 175lbs - 18.8mm and it's a 7)

Not sure about the other two though...I would guess that the 15-175 carbon is a 6 or 7...more likely a 6.

Thanks for the help folks. The reason I don't have the numbers on some of them is either the tip is missing or too badly damaged. Or there doesn't seem to be a number written on the bottom of the pole. And I did try just going by the numbers listed on Gill's and UCS's website, but a couple of the numbers didn't match up with some of them that I could identify so I'm figuring that mandrel sizes might have changed over the years...

Gill has reduced the number of tip sizes that they offer, because one tip would actually fit two or three mandrel sizes, so that is another reason you'll probably end up needing to talk to someone in person anyway.

15' 175 CarbonFX is likely a 10 (Gill) or 9 (UCS).
