slide boxes

anyone know the measurements for slide boxes? i just want to make one out of wood and i dont know how big to make it. thanks!

I would just measure out the top of the box. thats the easiest way

if your going to do the slide box thing. make sure you do one thing.
If you have the base piece of wood on the bottom. ( the large thin piece that is the piece touching the ground. usually around... 18" X 18") if you have that piece covering the inside of the box it can be dangerous. The LIP in front of the box may catch your pole when doing drills. so it causes you to be, theoretically, under. you lose about 2ft. so make sure you carve out the base so the box is "hollow", meaning if you plant early your pole will slide into the BACK of the box and not getting caught on the front.

we asked the wood shop teacher at the school to have his class make a couple for us. he made us 4 and they are indestructable (unless some dumbass kids use it as a bike ramp 
). Its a good way to get other kids in your school involved in the Pole Vault.

I think what's being said here is to bevel the leading edge of the baseplate pretty steeply so that there is no lip at the front of the box to catch a pole tip.
If these things are used indoors you also need something like chamois material to fully cover the bottom so it will slide easily on the floor and not leave any marks. Make sure the screws or nails are below the surface of the wood/plastic for the same reason.
