considering a mystic?

Unread postby TheDeanMachine » Sat Jun 30, 2007 1:45 pm

okay, right now i've been using a 13' 170 pacer fx, 15.5 flex. i've been told i need a longer pole, but a lot softer. should i invest in a 13'6" or 14' carbon mystic? or should i stick with the pacer fx. my competition PR is only 11'6", but i cleared a 13' bungee at EIU PV camp on a 13'6" 150 mystic, and i think the flex was in the 17's. any suggestions? sorry, that was a rough/brief explanation, but any thoughts?

How much do you weigh?
Don't buy a pole now that you may be over the weight limit next season or you may not be able to use it in a competition.

If it were me I would save money and go Skypole. If money is no object though or if somebody else was paying, nothing wrong with carbon. Just keep in mind that getting the pole size is more important than the color of the pole (although those new silver ones do look sweet).

i fluctuate between 165 and 170. if i do choose to get one, it'll definitely be a 170 or 175.

You're wasting money getting that short of a carbon pole. If a fiberglass 14' pole feels too heavy you either need to work on your pole carry or get stronger. Put the money you save toward buying another pole when you blow through this one.

i wasn't necessarily wanting a carbon specifically. just a pole that's really soft.

Carbons aren't any softer, they just have a lighter carry weight.

I would recommend a Skypole or an ESSX. They are designed to roll over nice and easy.
