				What's True And What's A Myth?

I've heard a few pole vault rumors and am not quite sure which ones are true. I just recently heard a rumor that stated, "if you got off the mat before the crossbar fell, it is considered a make." Some people said it was true, others disagreed. Is this true or not? Also, are there any other vault myths I should know, or you have heard?
Thanks!

I'm not 100% on that one...it was either a previous rule that is now abolished or it was never a rule at all...in either case no such rule exists (although you can occasionally get away with it!)

Yea hes right.... although its funny when my coach tells me this myth as a joke when i first started, and then on this jump below i thought it was true, and tried to jump off the matt after bumping the bar somewhat.

Well, I think that there was one post a while back who claimed that their long lost uncle died because his pole broke and speared him...

nope. that was never a rule for anything. in fact, i watched someone dive out of a pole vault pit once and break his arm, it was even sadder watchign him learn it was still a miss

I have seen it erroneously called a miss for exitting the pit under the crossbar. It is absolutely not a foul to do so.
