I cleared 12' 8" in 1988 US Army European championship with a pole I found under the stadium. I had no poles of my own, and no other vaulter would loan me one. I found a couple of old red relics and broke a 15' 68Kg (150) on my first warmup. The German officials said I couldn't use the other one but I wouldn't take
nein for an answer. The pole was a 15' 83 Kg and I was limping from a thigh injury (unrelated to the pole break), so there was no chance I could bend, let alone break it.
I used a short run and a hand shift (left hand move up close to my right at take-off). There was a three-way tie for first and I won the jump-off.

Bringing back this dead post because...
Yesterday was my first day back vaulting after breaking my foot in January. Haven't stiff-poled at a crossbar since i was 15-16 but i cleared a bar at 11' from 3 lefts, straightpoling... and i was pretty proud of that. lol.

12'6. was having a terrible day and nothing was working steps or different poles so went backl to basics to at least make sure i'd get top 3 and points at the meet.. the pole was 13' spirit and i was legally capping it
