Beginner to Bubka
Is Beginner to Bubka any good? I've heard that it is very informative but the book and/or DVD seem a bit pricey for someone who makes sandwiches for a living. Is it any better than some of the other books I own like Modern Pole Vaulting by Brian Ferry or Winning Jumps and Pole Vault? Is the book or the DVD better? I just want to get some feedback on it before I commit.

If you are serious about PV it is a great book. Worth every dollar spent + many more.

Beginner to Bubka is the best published material out there. If you can choose only one, get the book instead of the DVD.

I've never heard of Brian Ferry or Ed Jacoby (authors of your 2 books), but Alan Landers is a VERY well known and respected pole vault author. His BTB2 book is the BIBLE of the Petrov Model.
I would be curious to know what model Ferry and Jacoby teach? Or what Olympic Champions they refer to in their books as the technique to emulate?

I know that Ferry primary objective in Modern Pole Vaulting is to analyze the components of Bubka, Gataullin, Tarasov, Trandenkov and Yegorov and break the "Russian style" down. Greg Hull (Jacoby was editor) doesn't really focus on any particular athlete's technique (In fact I believe Bubka was only mentioned once) but he does reference Tim Mack and his coach Jim Bemiller.
