Having trouble with poles??

Unread postby altius » Wed Feb 10, 2010 4:22 pm

In 1891 the reigning Olympic and American pole vault champion turned up the championships without his pole. His opponents would not lend him one so he uprooted a flagpole and used that to jump 9’10” – and share the title.

The first modern Olympic games was in 1896... and the 1891 US Championships was won by solely Theodore Luce with a jump of 10'6.50.
