Focus on run posture, plant posture, correct pole carry. Search this forum for everything regarding run up and plant. Read it and understand it and then do it. Nothing will improve until you get that part of your jump better. Good luck..............Later......Mike

Watch lots of videos from www.stabhochsprung.com of the elite vaulters. Focus on how they run down the runway and how they carry the pole.

Or better still get the BTB dvd from Sean Brown at Neovault.com.

I think that's the wrong focus. You shouldn't emphasize "keeping the bottom arm straight", that'll only lead to blocking out.

Instead how about not pulling with the top arm?

The run and take off the the most important parts of the vault. Dont worry about form after you leave the ground until you can leave the ground correctly.

i agree your plant needs to improve alot ... especially if youve got 4 years experience already .... plant with your top arm straight and to initially learn how to bend the pole keep your bottom arm straight and push with them both .... after you do that youll start improving and then u can work on better plating techniques

Do not push with your bottom arm...that develops poor habits and will cause major problems with the rest of your vault.
