hi every body,
I am 21 years old ( 5'9" / 136 ).
I have been vaulting for 6 years.
my PR is 15'5" (I did it this year).
in these two jumps my grip is : 14'5".
The pole I was carring is a : 155/15'1".

in the first jump , the bar is at 15'1" :

in the second it's at 15'5" :

I would like to know what am I doing wrong? and what can I do to improve my vault?

Immediate impression is a very wide grip on the pole.

You are also getting under the pole (move back 1-1.5 foot).
It should give you a bit more hang time, that should make you load the pole a bit more, making sure you aren't running out of steam on the top (you are peaking early, and it seems a bit "weak"). On your 15'5" attempt are you still holding the pole even though you are almost vertical, feet down.........

Your plant is quick, even in this slowed version, but I bet you are consistent.

Hope I'm making sense (english isn't my primary language...).

thanks for your answer, me too I don't have english as first language, so your not alone!! ;)
I would like to say that my wide grip , and my take off under(about 1 feet) are two problems I have always wanted to resolve without success!

Start with your pole tip higher and a narrower grip. Keep your top hand more on your hip and your bottom hand centered on your chest when you run. Fix these things first.

You aren't finishing your take-off causing your trail leg to swing past your knee drive just to get inverted. Watch how your trail leg never loads up behind your hips after you're off the ground. I know it's slow-mo, but I would guess that in regular speed your swing is pretty slow and weak. You can load that pole all you want, but if those hips aren't moving fast when you get to the top, it's all for nothing.

That's right, but don't you think Coach, that the unfinished take off wich causes a bad swing, is a result of taking off under ?

I've got high school kids that take off under and still manage to finish. If you take off from the correct mark and hit the position that you are currently hitting, you'll get rejected. Finish the take-off.

Ok coach, I'll work on it !
I know something, its that I always had that problem of take-off in the long jump. I always make my take off with a bent knee and I never arrived to extend my leg completely ! so I gess its shoud be the same problem your talking about ?!
Is it a technical problem or a physical one?

Judging from your video, you don't look like you have any physical disabilities. It's just a technical problem that can be worked out from a short run with a low grip on a small pole. When you get it right, you'll see a huge difference and you'll probably start blowing through those poles you're on now. Good luck!
